ECONOMIC IMPACT

Value of the Airport & Hub to the Region
 $4.5 billion in 2005 study
More than $12 million per day
   50,000 area jobs supported
63% of impact comes from hub

The airport is more than the area's doorway to the world. It is a powerful economic engine that pumps billions of dollars into the local economy. This doesn't take into account the impact on business expansion as a result of the CVG hub.

The airport employs 15,000 people and supports a total of 50,000 jobs, according to a 2005 study by the Center for Economic Education, based at the University of Cincinnati. Businesses and employees who benefit the most from CVG include those in the transportation, finance, real estate, hotel and business service sectors.

A Look at the Numbers

The day-to-day operations of the airport contributed $2.9 billion in economic activity and supported 35,000 jobs.

One million air travelers who visited the Tri-State generated a total impact of nearly $1.1 billion, which supported 15,500 jobs related to food, lodging, entertainment and retail.

The impact from airport construction accounted for more than $500 million and almost 5,000 jobs.

Delta's hub accounted for close to two-thirds of the airport's total annual impact.

Source of New Money

Every day the airport brings more than $5 million in “new money” into the region. This means that 75 percent of airport-related expenditures are paid with dollars from outside the Tri-State.

These dollars come from visitors and from passengers who use the hub for flight connections. This money is essential to the growth of our local economy.
World Class Business

The number of foreign firms operating in the region has tripled since 1987, when CVG began offering nonstop transatlantic service.

Many firms cite the airport as a key reason for locating here, companies like: Ashland, Fidelity, Toyota and GE Capital.

To fully understand the importance of the hub, consider that companies like Fidelity and Toyota fly several hundred people to and from their offices each week.
