AIR QUALITY
Just as better highways reduce congestion and auto emissions, better airfields can help decrease the amount of fuel burned by aircraft. We have built one of the most efficient airfields — saving time and money for both passengers and airlines, and reducing aircraft emissions in the process.
Shuttle buses circling our terminals pose another challenge. Dozens of buses circle continuously — burning fuel and releasing hydrocarbons. Our transportation center creates a dedicated space for rental car buses to park and wait for passengers. In doing so, it improves traffic flow, reduces pollution and saves fuel.
Alternative Fuels
The airport is committed to lowering emissions. We have begun adding hybrid vehicles to our maintenance fleet. We have also replaced older boilers with high efficiency units that use less energy.
By using bio-diesel fuel, we have cut greenhouse gas emissions from large mowers — no small matter considering the thousands of acres of grass we cut each year.
Our firemen have switched to cleaner burning propane and Tek Flame at their training facility (below).
