Certification

The Kentucky Unified Certification Program is responsible for certifying eligible firms in Kentucky. An eligible firm must first be certified in its home state and firms must be certified in Kentucky for KCAB to count the firm’s participation towards KCAB’s goals.


Basic Requirements for Certification

  • For-profit small business
  • At least 51% owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged
  • Management and daily business operations controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged owners
  • Meet personal net worth and / or gross receipt limitations

Groups Presumed Socially and Economically Disadvantaged

  • Black Americans
  • Hispanic Americans
  • Asian-Pacific Americans
  • Subcontinent Asian Americans
  • Women
