New Concourse A Project

This is an exciting time for CVG and our community as we move forward with plans to revitalize and reactivate Concourse A. This project will position CVG for future growth and will make our region’s airport more efficient and competitive while providing a better experience for passengers and airline partners.

Revitalizing Concourse A also affords us the opportunity to showcase the Tri-State region. We plan to celebrate our region by incorporating design elements our loyal, hometown air travelers will proudly recognize while giving out-of-town travelers an immediate and positive impression of what our area has to offer.

Concourse A will be refurbished and reopen by summer 2012. Carriers that currently operate in Terminal 2 — Air Canada, American, Continental, US Airways and United Airlines — will move to Concourse A once renovations are completed. Delta Air Lines will continue to operate in Concourse B in Terminal 3.

This project is part of our overall plan to position CVG for future growth. We continue to explore all options to grow business at CVG and keep our region’s airport competitive as we move forward. The move to Concourse A provides the Terminal 2 carriers at CVG updated facilities to remain competitive and room for growth — one of our top objectives.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $31 million. The project will be primarily funded from capital improvement funds. No debt will be incurred for this facility improvement. Additionally, CVG’s operations are self-supporting. CVG is not supported by any local tax dollars.

Revitalizing Concourse A makes the most sense for all of our airline partners — and is in the best interest of our passengers. Please stay tuned for more updates about this exciting project as we continue to position CVG for future growth.

Additionally, CVG achieved Safety ACT Designation and Certification from the Department of Homeland Security earlier this month, demonstrating the superior level of safety and security in place to protect the airport, our passengers and employees. A recognized leader in safety and security, CVG is the first airport in the country to apply for and receive this designation.

To further underscore CVG’s premier position in operational excellence, customers recognized CVG this year as the Best Regional Airport in North America and as the top-ranked airport for “Service Excellence.” The awards are a result of the independent World Airport survey conducted by Skytrax, a London-based air transport research organization.
