Frontier Airlines Arrival Sparks New Jobs in Ground Support
April 5, 2013
— The May arrival of Frontier Airlines at CVG has already sparked direct job creation in the form of a Nebraska ground-handling company.
Trego-Dugan Aviation will provide ground-handling services for Frontier's daily Denver flight. The company expects to hire one full-time manager and 20 part-time staff.
“We knew adding another carrier at CVG would spark economic development and we are immediately seeing results,” said Candace McGraw, CVG CEO. “We are very excited about the good things happening at CVG and believe Trego-Dugan will have expansion opportunities now that they are here.”
Ground handling addresses the many service requirements of an airliner between the time it arrives at a terminal gate and its next flight. Services such as check-in and departure assistance, plane clean up, luggage handling, lavatory service, refueling, etc. are all vital steps to ensure airliner efficiency and on-time performance.
Frontier begins service from CVG May 17. The airline is the first low-cost carrier at CVG since 1998. The daily flight Denver flight is estimated to have a $16 million annual impact on the local economy.
Trego-Dugan is headquartered in North Platte, Neb., and has a 45-year history in aviation. It is a traditional Fixed Base Operator providing services in 11 airports. CVG will be the company's 12th airport. In addition to Frontier, it also works with American Eagle and Allegiant airlines.
“We welcome Trego-Dugan as part of the CVG family and are happy to have a family business with a rich tradition in the airline industry opening its doors in Northern Kentucky,” said James Huff, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board.
