CVG Ranked America's Safest Airport

Aug. 12, 2011 — CVG has been ranked as the nation's safest by Travel & Leisure magazine.

“The airport's safety record is nothing short of phenomenal,” the magazine reported in August. “In the last three years, CVG has experienced just one runway incident of any kind, and it had no immediate safety implications.”

Travel & Leisure analyzed FAA safety reports and other statistics to determine which US airports had the fewest and least severe runway incidents from 2006 to 2010.

Memphis had the next fewest, with 10 runway incidents. The rest of the top 10 list included: Houston, Pittsburgh, Portland, Orlando, San Diego, Minneapolis, LaGuardia (NY) and Detroit.
