DHL Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary
July 29, 2010 — DHL Express will celebrate its one year anniversary of the reopening of its hub operation at CVG with a fun-filled family/employee day on Saturday, July 31. Employees and their families will be treated to tours of the facilities, an insider view of the B-767 aircraft and other exciting events.
“This is a great opportunity for us to thank our employees for all their hard work over the last year - helping DHL achieve record-level service for our customers,” said Jack O'Neill, Vice President of Operations for DHL Express U.S. “Our dedicated employees have really gone the extra mile to make our return a success and re-establish DHL as a strong community partner.”
The facility at CVG serves as DHL's principal U.S. Express hub and employs approximately 550 full-time and 990 part-time employees.
In 2009, DHL Express U.S. organized its entire network to reflect its international focus - including an enhanced, fully-automated hub at CVG that features a new Quality Control Center.
At the QCC, DHL Express staff monitor all inbound and outbound shipments from the United States 24 hours a day, seven days a week at all U.S. service centers, sub-stations, and international gateways across the country. DHL QCC teams use information transmitted through real-time events to identify a breakdown in the shipment chain, and activate internal processes to respond immediately to a shipment issue. The QCC monitors millions of global checkpoints everyday to spot crisis situations that might impact shipments so DHL staff can take action before delays occur.
“DHL has been a great airport and community partner,” said John C. Mok, CVG CEO. “Their return to CVG has increased jobs in the region and helped to decrease overall operating costs to all carriers at CVG.”
“We would like to congratulate DHL and their employees on a successful year back at CVG and continued success moving forward,” added Mok.
