Opening of Concourse A at CVG

Renovated Terminal, Passenger Tunnel and Concourse A
Opens on May 15 with More Amenities for Today’s Passengers

May 14, 2012 – Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) will open its renovated Terminal, Passenger Tunnel and Concourse A on Tuesday, May 15, when all flights from CVG will arrive and depart from the Main Terminal (formally Terminal 3).

CVG’s renovation includes moving air carriers that were previously in Terminal 2 to the Main Terminal (formally Terminal 3) Concourse A. Carriers include Air Canada, American Airlines, US Airways and United. Concourse A will open with 16-gates allowing for future growth. Delta Air Lines will remain in Concourse B of the Main Terminal.

Concourse A offers additional amenities for travelers, including more dining and shopping options, WiFi, workstations and outlets to recharge electronic devices, a USO Military Lounge and a children’s play area. The renovation also includes an improved ticketing area and tunnel enhancements, providing fast access to passenger gates. Passengers can walk or take train service to their gates. Both trains are in service for quick access to Concourses A and B.

“This project is part of our overall plan to position CVG for future growth. We continue to explore all options to grow business at CVG and keep our region’s airport competitive as we move forward,” said Candace McGraw, Chief Executive Officer of CVG. “Passengers asked for improvements to make travel more efficient and we have listened. Revitalizing Concourse A also gives us the opportunity to showcase the Greater Cincinnati region. We are celebrating our region by incorporating design elements our loyal, hometown air travelers will proudly recognize while giving out-of-town travelers an immediate and positive impression of what our area has to offer."

Input from The Story Project, a collaborative effort of regional leaders, informed the design for the remodeled Concourse A and Tunnel at CVG. The Cincinnati Enquirer Photo Archives and local photographers provided images passengers can enjoy throughout the renovated areas.

Quick Facts for Passengers

Where can I park?

You may continue to park in the Terminal Garage or CVG’s Long-Term ValuParkLot.  As always, for easiest access, CVG ValuPark shuttles will pick you up at your car and get you to the terminal in 4 minutes or less.

Any changes at Security?

CVG already had the infrastructure in place to accommodate the additional traffic flow, to include new security equipment to expedite passenger and checked baggage screening. With this transition, an additional two to four lanes are available to expedite security screenings. All Terminal 2 TSA Officers will move to the expanded security area of the Main Terminal. During peak times, security lanes will be staffed at appropriate levels. Passengers are encouraged to follow the recommended check-in times of their airline. The approximate average wait time at the security checkpoint is 10 to 15 minutes.

How will I get to my gate?

Air Canada, American, US Airways and United passengers can take the train or walk to their gates in Concourse A. Delta passengers will continue to use Concourse B gates. Travelers who are flying on Vacation Express flights with non-stop service to Punta Cuna, Cancun, and Montego Bay beginning on May 25 will fly out of Concourse B as well as those flying to Myrtle Beach on Vision Airlines beginning on May 31.

If you travel on Air Canada, American, United or US Airways prior to May 15 and return after that date, you will depart from Terminal 2 and arrive at the Main Terminal (Terminal 3) on your return trip.
