Major improvements planned over 5 years
CVG covers 10 square miles and includes its own road system, utilities and infrastructure. As many of the facilities approach 25 years old, CVG is embarking on a major capital improvement program that will invest an estimated $345 million over the next five years. By 2021, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility will sit where the former Terminals 1 and 2 once stood — providing greater efficiencies and convenience, while promising a big reduction in emissions from rental buses no longer having to circle the airport. Steady growth in local passengers is mandating various parking improvements and terminal modernization projects. The airfield, utilities, roadways and baggage systems will also undergo upgrades.
