AIRCRAFT NOISE

Airport Commitment

CVG has a longstanding commitment to minimize the impact of aircraft noise. Over the last 15 years we have:

  • Assisted more than 1,300 families by either purchasing their properties on a voluntary basis or by sound-insulating their homes.
  • Sound-insulated 10 schools in Ohio and Kentucky.
  • Set departure corridors along the Ohio River (north) and I-75 (south) to keep larger jets away from residential areas.
  • Directed the majority of nighttime activity over less populated areas west of the airport.
  • Installed an industry-leading flight tracking system to monitor compliance with these procedures.

Noise Committee to Meet

The next Aviation Noise Abatement Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Airport Board offices on the 2nd floor of Terminal 1.
