FUTURE OF CVG

The Airport Board has approved plans to revitalize and reactivate Concourse A by summer 2012 (see rendering above). Carriers that currently operate in Terminal 2 — Air Canada, American, Continental, US Airways and United Airlines — will move to the gates in Concourse A once renovations are completed. Ticketing, baggage and security for Concourse A passengers will be available in Terminal 3. Delta will continue to operate out of Terminal 3 and the gates in Concourse B.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the move?

This move is part of our overall plan to position CVG for future growth.  Reactivating Concourse A will make our region's airport more efficient and competitive, providing a better experience for passengers and airline partners.

What will Concourse A look like?

In addition to enhancing our overall competitiveness, revitalizing Concourse A affords CVG the opportunity to showcase the Greater Cincinnati region.  We plan to celebrate our region by incorporating design elements our loyal, hometown air travelers will proudly recognize while giving out-of-town travelers an immediate and positive impression of what our area offers.

How will this increase air service at CVG?

Consolidating all CVG carriers into Terminal 3 makes our region's airport more efficient, effective and competitive.  We continue to explore all options to grow business at CVG.

Who is paying for this?  How will it be funded?

CVG will fund the project primarily from capital improvement funds established under the airport's current operating agreement with all carriers.  No debt will be incurred by the Airport for this facility improvement.

What is the cost of this project?

The total cost of the project (reactivating Concourse A, improving Terminal 3 and enhancing the connector tunnel) is estimated at $31 million.  CVG's signatory airlines have approved the plan per the Use and Lease agreement.

How will this make it easier for passengers?

The parking and curbfront experience at Terminal 3 makes for easier travel. Concourse A also offers additional amenities, including more dining and shopping options, WiFi, workstations and outlets, children's play area and loading bridges for all aircraft type.

Concourse B remains one of the most convenient, spacious airport facilities in the region offering a full range of amenities to its customers.  The Terminal 3 security building, opened in 2009, also offers new technology to expedite passenger services including, ticketing, baggage handling and security.
