HEBRON, Ky. — More than 80 local veterans visited Washington, D.C., Tuesday to see the memorials dedicated to the wars they served in.
It was the first honor flight of the year out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
The veterans received a special send-off from CVG preceded by bagpipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
The honor flight landed in Washington to visit the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the US Air Force Memorial, and other Washington sights.
The flight returns to CVG Tuesday night with a welcome home celebration.
