Communications Associate

Description

CLASS SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing content in support of all CVG communications, marketing, and community outreach efforts. Supports internal and campus-wide communications efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

  • Assists in writing press releases, fact sheets, and public-facing statements.
  • Serves as a corporate spokesperson to media, responding to press inquiries and providing statements, as needed.
  • Writes and develops copy for public-facing communications and publications, including email blasts, feature stories, blog entries, website content, radio ad copy, and sponsored content for CVG owned assets, as well as partner content for external publications.
  • Provides support for CVG social media channels and related communications.
  • Monitors media placements, creates and analyzes reports of relevant media coverage, determining ROI of corporate communications efforts and disseminating to leadership.
  • Writes and develops internal airport authority newsletter and airport campus-wide newsletter. Identifies opportunities and tools to enhance internal and campus-wide communications.
  • Researches, discovers and develops engaging and original stories about activities on the airport campus or as a result of CVG’s activities.
  • Captures still photos and video B-roll on a regular basis to ensure a library of updated content is maintained.
  • Maintains databases of outside/public CVG contacts and leverages systems (i.e. CRM) to ensure timely and accurate communications with external parties.
  • Assists in executing special events and other airport-sponsored events and community functions.
  • Responsible for all contract management activities as documented in KCAB Policy 1014, Contract Management, as the subject matter expert responsible for all key aspects of contract management ensuring the airport authority’s interests are represented in any business activities regarding agreements. Prepares RFPs, bid specifications, and negotiates contracts. Manages contract compliance and resolves issues.
  • Participates as a member of CVG’s crisis communications team.
  • Manages archiving functions for the department, including maintaining libraries of historical photography, updated photography, video B-roll, media clips and reports, and other assets.
  • Ability to be available and work for after-hours activities, including events and emergencies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to the area of assignment; working knowledge of principles of communication, journalism and media relations, and project management, as well as at least three years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Obtain/maintain position appropriate NIMS & emergency training

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
