Electronics Technician
Description
CLASS SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining the operation and functionality of a large Integrated Facility Management System (FMS) which consists of a Proprietary Fire Alarm System, HVAC Control System, Lighting Control System, Closed-Circuit Television/Camera System, and various other control systems. Other duties may include snow removal, operating heavy equipment, data entry, facilities on-call responsibilities, as well as supporting other needs of the Airport as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
• Analyzes and processes weekly and biweekly payrolls. Makes changes authorized by employees including direct Perform routine testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair and installation of CCTV systems, access control, paging and mechanical systems • Maintain associated FMS local area network (LAN) components, including all metallic and fiber optic communication paths and associated work station PC’s • Assist other technicians in maintaining the entire FMS • On-call to respond to system malfunctions and assist system users • Recommends all maintenance plans, additions, and improvements to the Airport’s Electronic Access Control, Security, and Public Safety Systems. • Develops and recommends Electronic Access Control, Security, and Public Safety Systems, including the selection of compatible replacements for obsolete equipment. • Works with other Airport groups as a subject-matter expert in Electronic Access Control, Security, and Public Safety Systems to provide support in operational issues, project planning, and design layout. • Complete work orders and record time/material utilized on jobs, through a computer based asset management system. • Assist with contractors to meet Airport standards and developing improvements to facilities equipment. • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree in Electronics or a related field and five years of related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Driver’s License required • Commercial Driver’s License – Class A or B (or the ability to acquire a Class B within 6 months of the hire date) • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance • Kentucky Fire Alarm License preferred KNOWLEDGE OF: • Basic electricity and electronic theory • HVAC equipment and theory of operation • Motor Controls/Starters • Variable Frequency Drives • Fire Alarm Systems.
SKILL IN:
• Demonstrated skill in maintenance of Electronic Access Control, Security, Public Safety, HVAC Controls and Paging Systems • NFPA 72 Standards • Work Load and Time Management • Fiber Optic Networks • Facilities/Building Management Systems (FMS/BMS) • Computer repair and software installation • Demonstrated skill in the use of digital multimeters • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
