Description
CLASS SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing conceptual creative services through graphic design and signage services for the CVG Airport Authority departments, outside partners, (chambers of commerce, etc.) and tenants. Produces, fabricates and installs signage and graphics. Creating products for either art for print, photography, digital media, banners and wraps that support the promotional efforts of CVGAA’s various departments. Performs computer layout, large and small format printing, laser engraving, CNC routing and some photography.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
- Participates in the conceptual creative design process.
- Performs graphic design and layout functions. Facilitates conceptual development using shapes, colors, text, technology and art either with the computer or physically to communicate or convey a message.
- Produces large format color prints, laminates, fabricates signs and sign structures and installs signs in a safe and efficient manner.
- Set-ups photo shoots, take pictures, critiques and adjusts pictures as needed and delivers for final usage.
- Carries over creative art to print, printed page, web or large format printing.
- Creates and maintains photographic archives for past and present photography.
- Paints new signs using color match software and paint mixing formulas to produce the best colors. Aids in determining the suitability of paint options versus use of design and printed vinyl graphic overlays. Aids in determining use of digital media as an alternative to other applications.
- Uses industry leading technology for design, cutting, framing, and installation (e.g. CNC router, laser engraving, etc.).
- Performs installation of completed design work.
- Prioritizes, tracks, and maintains records of the elements, costs and time schedules of multiple projects.
- Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment and tools in shop.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance
- Valid driver’s license
- Obtain and maintain area non-movement airfield driving
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Adobe Creative Suite Graphic Software
- Photography
- Printing industry
- Graphic signage large format pictures
- Rip software and large format printer operation
SKILL IN:
- Clearly and effectively communicating, and advocating, both orally and in writing
- Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets
- Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
